Meet The Team: Charlene

In our latest Meet the Team blog, we’re introducing you to Charlene Liddy, our Renewals Specialist. Charlene manages the renewals portfolio for our clients at Mathisen & Macara. Here’s all you need to know about her.

Biography

Charlene joined Mathisen & Macara in 2010 as a Legal Assistant, training in patent formalities. She then passed the CIPA Administrators’ examination in 2014. With the arrival of two sons, she works part-time.

Now as the firm’s Renewals Specialist, she ensures that our clients’ yearly renewals for maintaining their patents are completed on time. She has to contact every client and advises them of the deadlines as well as the costs. 

The best part of her role? For Charlene, it’s the “sole responsibility in making sure everything is done on time.” She enjoys being proactive, getting involved in her work and delivering for her clients. As she describes it, “I love the fact that I am able to open my laptop, get stuck in and pick up work.”

Outside of work

If Charlene wasn’t in her role, she would be a wedding or events planner as she enjoyed planning her wedding. She is also the firm’s social secretary.

Her working life has changed since the start of the pandemic. She finds that working from home fits perfectly around looking after her two boys. Despite this, she misses seeing her colleagues each day.

And if we weren’t discussing work, Charlene would be recounting stories of sleepless nights. After she had her second son, she took up running; she loves to have her music on and be in her own thoughts for a while . She also enjoys spa days, the theatre or dinner with friends. Charlene, we look forward to you organising more social events for the team!
