Meet The Team: Olivia

The next focus of the Mathisen & Macara ‘Meet the Team’ series is Olivia Harrington who joined the team in 2018 as a Business Administrator. Her first role outside of school, Olivia has committed herself to accreditations and qualifications in line with her job here at the firm.

Biography

Olivia joined Mathisen & Macara as an apprentice after leaving school in 2018. Within six months, Olivia had enrolled at CILEX Law School to study for the Level 3 Business Administrator qualification – an accreditation she could undertake in line with her role at the firm. This went on for two years, after which Olivia passed her final exams with distinction, in 2021:

“Passing my apprenticeship with a distinction grade during the Covid 19 pandemic, was my proudest moment to date. My role was evolving with more responsibility and in addition things were wildly different because of Covid – I had to embrace the changes and get on with it. Sitting my final exams whilst in Covid 19 isolation was an experience in itself too!”

Olivia very quickly started taking on more responsibilities, including gaining more experience within both the Patent and Trademark sectors. She is now an integral part of the firm, working closely both with the Formalities team and Mathisen & Macara’s Patent Attorneys.

Outside of work

Olivia says that if she wasn’t carving out a career in Intellectual Property – she’d be a paramedic, due to the positive impact it has on other people.

Outside of work, Olivia enjoys attending music events – even if it means she has to travel around the UK. Now that travel is easier,  she’s hoping to travel more outside the UK, with her dedication to professional development – we think she’s earned it.
