Having graduated from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and technology with a degree in Chemistry, I went on to qualify as a U.K. and a European Patent Attorney in 2003; also qualifying later as a UK Trade Mark Attorney in 2014.

In my patent practice, I have experience in a range of technical fields including inorganic chemistry and mechanical and electronic engineering, working on a variety of technologies, such as, chemical additive for lubricants and fuels, engine components and engine control technology, machinery components, tobacco processing, medical devices and communication technologies. I have significant experience in all aspects of patent practice, including drafting patent applications, prosecution, opposition procedures in the European Patent Office, as well as advising on matters of infringement, validity and freedom-to-operate. I have instructed and worked with barristers representing clients at hearings at the U.K. Intellectual Property Office.  I am also experienced in obtaining registered design protection. 

In addition, I advise on all aspects of trade mark and branding matters, including trade mark searching, filing and prosecution of new trade mark applications, filing and defending trade mark oppositions, trade mark monitoring and enforcement.  I also advise on commercial aspects of IP including co-existence agreements.
