Qualified across the full spectrum of Intellectual Property Law, I am a Patent, Registered Design and Trade Mark Attorney here at Mathisen & Macara.
Having graduated from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology with a degree in Industrial Chemistry, I went on to qualify as a U.K. and a European Patent Attorney in 2003. Following a change in case load, additionally qualifying as a UK Trade Mark Attorney in 2014. Having held roles both in house and in private practice – I have a unique appreciation of both the practical application and implications of IP.

Specific expertise that includes chemical additives for lubricant and fuels, drilling processes and petroleum processing systems, engine components and engine control technology, machinery components, manufacturing processes, medical devices, pumps and recycling processes.
Invention harvesting, drafting and prosecution of patent applications, European Patent Office opposition and appeal proceedings, infringement and validity advice, and freedom-to-operate assessments.
Hearings at the UK Intellectual Property Office in London, working alongside Barristers on behalf of clients.
Negotiation of joint research agreements.
Brand protection, Trade Mark, and Registered Design practice
Trade Mark searching, filing, and prosecution of new trade mark applications, across a wide variety of technology sectors.
Filing and defending Trade Mark oppositions, including instructing barristers for hearings at the UKIPO.
Trade Mark monitoring and enforcement
Filing and prosecution of Registered Design applications.
Negotiation of co-existence, licence, and settlement agreements.
